Nate Saint was an American missionary and aviator who was best known for his work with the indigenous people of Ecuador. Nate Saint died on January 8, 1956, along with fellow missionaries Jim Elliot, Roger Youderian, Ed McCully, and Pete Fleming. The five men were killed by members of the Huaorani tribe, also known as the Auca people, while attempting to make contact with them. The deaths of the missionaries shocked the world and caused a significant increase in Christian missionary work and interest in the Huaorani people. Despite their deaths, the work of the missionaries continued, and many of the Huaorani people ultimately converted to Christianity. Nate Saint's life and work are still celebrated and remembered today by Christians and others around the world.
